Pune businessman’s bodyguard arrested for road rage on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Pune: A bodyguard of a Pune businessman has been taken into custody for allegedly smashing the windshield of a private bus and firing at the driver following a near collision with the car belonging to the family.

The incident happened on October 14 (Saturday).

As per further information, the incident occurred around 11.15 p.m. when the bus, which was headed to Hyderabad, shifted lanes from the third to the second after a truck broke down in the middle of the road. The car in the second lane immediately behind the bus came to a halt to avoid a collision.

It wasn’t long after that that the car sped up, passed the bus and caught up with it a few yards down the road. At that point, the bodyguard got out of the car and used a hockey stick to break the bus windscreen, sending debris flying across the road.

The bus driver was then beaten by the bodyguard after being dragged from the driver’s compartment. The driver then dodged and managed to avoid being hit when the bodyguard pulled out a revolver and fired one round at him. A few employees from the nearby Bhor Ghat traffic police booth hurried to the scene and notified police officers as traffic was blocked. 

As per the information, the bodyguard has been charged with an ‘attempt to murder’ charge and other pertinent sections of the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
