The Indian Gig Workers’ Front has decided to withdraw the cab strike which was scheduled to take place on 20 February 2024 in Pune & Pimpri Chinchwad as the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a show-cause notice to cab companies like Ola and Uber regarding several complaints by cab drivers, Indian Gig Workers’ Front etc.

As per further information shared by Dr Keshav Kshirsagar, President, Indian Gig Workers’ Front, a meeting has been scheduled on 21 st February under the chairmanship of Pune District Collector.

According to the Khatua Committee, thousands of cab drivers are being deprived of their rightful cab wages due to Pune RTO’s corporate decision to fix the cab fare as per the central government’s cab aggregator guidelines. They had scheduled a cab strike on 20 February 24 to protest this.

But the Maharashtra state transport commissioner has ordered the RTO Pune to take appropriate action immediately considering the problems of the drivers.

Accordingly, RTO Pune has issued a show cause notice to Ola and Uber based on the complaints of the drivers.

Also, a joint meeting will be held on 21st February 2024 under the chairmanship of Pune District Collector.

As per information from the RTO Pune letter to Indian Gig Workers’ Front, accessed by Pune Pulse, the RTO has requested not to carry out the cab strike on 20 th February outside the RTO Pune office, co-operate with the authorities & not create any law & order situation.

As per information from the show-cause notice accessed by Pune Pulse,

After perusing the complaints of the cab drivers, the cab companies like Ola and Uber should present their opinion in written form in RTO Pune office within 7 days. Otherwise, it should be noted that appropriate action will be taken as per the rules and provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act as well as the provisions of the Central Government’s Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2020.
