Pune, October 21, 2024: The election machinery in the 214th Pune Cantonment Assembly Constituency is fully prepared for the upcoming assembly elections. There are 274 polling stations across 73 buildings in this constituency, where 293,453 voters will exercise their right to vote, according to Returning Officer Siddharth Bhandare.

On average, each polling station will cater to 1,071 voters. The total electorate comprises 148,549 male voters, 144,870 female voters, and 34 transgender voters. Adequate manpower has been arranged to ensure smooth election proceedings. The Returning Officer’s office for the Pune Cantonment Assembly Constituency is set up at Bharat Ratna Sir Vishveshwarya Hall, Public Works Subdivision No. 5, 3rd Floor, Arsenal Plot, opposite Hotel Sagar Plaza, Camp, Pune.

Several teams, including nomination management, EVM management and distribution, postal ballot, EDC teams, election material distribution, voter list management, help desks, complaint resolution units, public relations, and a single-window cell, have been assigned specific tasks. There are also 9 Flying Squads (FST), 9 Static Surveillance Teams (SST), 3 Video Surveillance Teams (VST), and 2 Video Viewing Teams (VVT) on duty.

As part of the Model Code of Conduct, 295 unauthorized posters, banners, flexes, and flags from various political parties have been removed from the constituency.

Training for all teams has been completed to ensure flawless execution of the election process. Political party representatives have been briefed on adhering to the code of conduct and properly filing nomination papers.

To increase voter turnout, the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) management team is working actively. Voter pledges are being collected at all malls, busy areas, schools, and colleges in the constituency. Awareness campaigns, including street plays, songs, and slogans, are being conducted to encourage voters to fulfill their duty, Bhandare added.
