Pune Cantonment Board bags Raksha Mantri’s Award for Excellence 2023
Pune Cantonment CB to transfer 2,438 old grant properties, 362 staff to state govt
The Pune Cantonment Board has bagged the Raksha Mantri’s Award for Excellence – 2023 in the field of “Improvement in Cantonment General Hospital”. It is worth mentioning that the earlier three awards were conferred in the same field during the years 2019, 2020 & 2021.
In a press note, DG DE conveyed that based on the recommendations of Awards Selection Committee, Pune Cantonment Board have been recommended for RMs Award for Excellence 2023 for their excellent performance in the field of Improvement in the Cantonment General Hospital of the Board.
Cantonment Board, Pune has pioneered the practice of good governance by adopting the dual strategy of CSR Funding and project implementation through PPP Model even during the period of financial crisis to create state of the art health infrastructure and other civic amenities in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Speciality & Critical Care Hospital.
During the year 2022 to October, 2023, the Hospital was further upgraded through Public Private Partnership model by roping in motivated private individuals / doctors for creating capital intensive facilities viz. Cath Lab, Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Liquid Oxygen tank, Modern Pathology Lab etc. The Cardiac Care Unit consists of Cath Lab, 6 bedded Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and 10 bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU).
It is needless to mention that the Board is able to provide affordable and accessible Cardio-Vascular health services to Cantonment Citizens at less than CGHS Rates or free under Mahatma Jyotiba Phole Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY).
The Board is also implementing Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Kendra for providing cheaper generic medicines.
The Hospital is empanelled under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana / Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, under which patients of Cantonment area as well as adjoining municipal / rural areas are benefited by free dialysis, surgeries, critical care treatment at ICU / NICU, Cardiac Care Unit.
The Hospital already had fully functional Dialysis Unit, 20 bedded ICU, Modular Operation Theatre Complex, which were developed through financial assistance of various CSR, Companies and donors.
Hospital has also been successful in getting CSR investment for laproscopy unit, Orthoscopic Instruments, ENT Microscope, Dental Instruments, Uro Surgical instruments etc. The Board is also in process of further developing the 75 bedded state of art new Maternity Ward building built and donated by A K Abdujee Trust.

Sachin Mathurawala and also the various donors, Corporate Sectors for their wholehearted co-operation & financial support & allocation of grants / funds.
