Pune: Cement Concrete Spillage Causes Accidents On Sinhagad Road, Citizens Seek Action
Due to the spillage of cement concrete from an RMC mixer vehicle on the road leading from Dhayari Phata on Sinhagad Road to Lagad Mala, a two-wheeler rider slipped and met with an accident. The rider sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Two weeks ago, officials from the Sinhagad Road Regional Ward Office had the road cleaned after this issue was brought to their attention. Additionally, a hefty fine was imposed on the RMC mixer plant. At that time, it was also announced that two workers would be assigned daily to clean the spots where cement concrete spills from the RMC mixer vehicles. However, no workers were present to clean the spilled concrete, causing the road to become muddy and resulting in accidents for two-wheeler riders.
“The spillage from the mixer has created bumps on the road, similar to speed breakers, causing minor and major accidents for two-wheeler riders. Hence, it is necessary for the municipality to clean the road immediately. If the related companies do not comply with the regulations, strict action should be taken against them,” said Mahesh Pokale, a resident of the area.
Pokale further said that PMC, Traffic Department and MPCB must take cognisance of the problem causing issue to the residents.
The municipal administration and RMC mixer owners have remained silent on this issue. Therefore, vehicle drivers and citizens are demanding immediate action from the administration to address the recurring spillage of cement concrete on the road.
“We will notify our construction department to take action regarding the cement concrete spillage from the RMC mixer on Sinhagad Road. We will also impose strict punitive action on the respective plant owners,” informed a senior PMC official.
