Pune Citizens File Over 2.49 Lakh Traffic Complaints via PTP App, 1.76 Lakh Converted into Challans
Pune, March 24, 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police has reported significant public participation in enforcing road discipline through the PTP App, with over 2.49 lakh complaints registered since its launch.
According to officials, around 1.55 lakh citizens have downloaded the application and are actively reporting traffic violations. Out of the total complaints received, approximately 1.76 lakh cases have been verified and converted into challans. Authorities also noted that pending fines amounting to ₹9.32 crore have been recovered through this initiative.
To recognise citizen involvement, the traffic department recently organised a felicitation event at the Police Commissionerate. The ceremony honoured individuals who reported the highest number of violations in February, as part of efforts to encourage greater public participation in maintaining traffic discipline.
The app, introduced earlier this year, enables users to report offences such as illegal parking and traffic rule violations. To incentivise participation, the top contributors each month are awarded cash prizes ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000 along with certificates.
During the event, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar presented awards to the winners. In addition, three police personnel were recognised for their prompt response and action on complaints received through the platform.
Authorities also highlighted a joint initiative by the Pune Municipal Corporation and city police to tackle illegal hoardings and related issues. As part of a week-long drive, residents have been urged to use the app to report unauthorised structures, abandoned vehicles and improper parking.
Senior officials, including Ranjankumar Sharma and Manoj Patil, attended the event. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav concluded the programme by appreciating citizen participation and encouraging wider use of the platform.
