Several citizens have reached out to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maharashtra, expressing their dismay over not finding their names in the voters’ list during the recent Baramati polls.

The issue of missing names in the electoral roll was predominantly observed in the urban areas of the Khadakwasla, Baramati, and Purandar assembly constituencies, leaving voters frustrated.

A retired government officer from Undri, Dilip Shah recounted having to make numerous calls to helpline numbers and election officials, only to be informed that his name was not on the voter list.

Many citizens in urban areas, gearing up for the upcoming Pune, Shirur, and Maval parliamentary constituency polls on May 13, reported that their names were deleted from the list without any prior notification. Additionally, concerns were raised about instances where duplicate entries in the list were not removed.

District election officials emphasized the importance of voters regularly checking their names on the electoral roll before each election. They urged voters to verify their names on the final list of electors and advised those who do not find their names to re-enroll ahead of upcoming elections.

The electoral authorities assured citizens that steps would be taken to address the issue and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
