Pune: Punekars are going to organize a massive protest against the Pune Municipal Corporation on August 9 for failure in addressing common issues faced by citizens like potholes, water cuts, tree cutting etc.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rekha Joshi, a member of Mula Mutha Nadi Darshan Pune said, “ There are a lot of potholes on the roads of Pune. The problem worsens during the rainy season. A lot of accidents also occur. It is a task to drive on these roads. It feels like exercising while driving and walking on the road. The PMC tries to repair the water-filled pits by adding asphalt and gravel, but the next day, the asphalt is gone and gravel appears. When is the PMC going to address several other issues like this?”

Amit Singh, a core member of Pune River Revival said, “The budget of PMC is Rs 10000 crore. More than 16000 people work in the PMC. In the next 10 years, looking at the total budget of the PMC, Rs 1,00,000 crore will be spent on everything. Still, we are thinking about sewage water, garbage, improper roads, electricity cuts, stinking rivers, tree cutting, hills getting destroyed, water bodies encroachment and many more.”

The protest is going to take place in front of the PMC main gate on August 9 at 10 am. Pune citizens are encouraged to participate in this protest.
