Pune : Cloud 9 Half Road Set To Open Today, Bringing Good News To NIBM Road Residents

Residents of NIBM road, Undri, Mohammadwadi are rejoicing over the news that the half side of the Cloud 9 road is all set to open for vehicles. Though the excitement is on ‘Cloud 9’, the residents are eagerly waiting for the moment when both sides of the road will be thrown open for the public. 

For the past more than two months the road has remained closed for traffic since the Pune Municipal Corporation is undertaking the work to reduce the gradient. 

The half road is slated for inauguration on June 14, 2023 at 5 PM on NIBM road near Cloud 9 society in Kondhwa, Pune at the hands of MLA Chetan Tupe, NCP Pune city president Prashant Jagtap and former corporator Nanda Lonkar. 

Pune Pulse spoke to the residents of the area to know about how the reduction of the gradient will impact their lives. 

Rajeev Hemmady, a resident of Raheja Vista Phase 1 said, “This road was an impossible task for anyone to achieve. But I deeply thank Pune Municipal Corporation and our former corporator for taking up this challenge and completing a daunting task. This road will prove beneficial to not just the residents around us, but also to those living in Undri, Mohammadwadi. We have been part of the daily struggle due to the steep gradient of the road which led to so many minor as well as major accidents. But now, the situation has changed completely.” 

Bhupesh Sharma, a resident of Elina Living society commented that the new road will provide a big relief to the local residents. This will also boost the real estate market of the area. I am  looking forward to seeing the opening of both sides of the road. 

Speaking about the inauguration of the road, Nanda Lonkar, former corporator of the area commented, “It is one of the important milestones of my career as a politician. The reduction of the gradient on Cloud 9 road was a much needed work for thousands of residents in the area. This road project took a lot of follow ups with various governing agencies. This road will transform the area completely.” 

Prashant Kumar, chairman, Archana Kohinoor Glory stated, “I have been a resident of the area for the last one decade and have seen the struggle faced by the residents. I feel happy today that the gradient has been reduced and the road is complete and motorable for the citizens. I am thankful that the Anandvan Parisar Residents Forum took up the matter on various occasions to the elected representatives, PMC and other departments. The impossible task was made possible by our former Nanda Lonkar who struggled to get the road sanctioned from the forest dept.”  

Another resident of the area, Vrushali Nevse, a resident of Raheja Vista Premiere said that she came to the area to reside in the area three years ago and has seen multiple accidents taking place everyday. The road was very risky for two wheelers and bicycles. “I am hoping that the other side of the road is completed soon. The road has transformed completely. This road will ensure smooth connectivity to Bakers Point, NIBM road and Wanowrie,” she added. 

The local residents shared that the half road which will be open for vehicles should have barricades, reflectors, streetlights and also restrict heavy vehicles from using the road. Also, the debris around the road must be cleared completely before it is opened for public use. Motorists should also traffic regulations and should not over speed on the road. Also, the alternate parallel road Dorabjee Paradise, ahead of Urban Space, Marvel Sangira nala side road must also be looked into and shall be developed at the earliest so that the NIBM Neighborhood areas have excellent road connectivity.
