Pune, February 24, 2026: A city resident has alleged a serious food safety lapse after reportedly finding a cockroach inside a burger purchased from a restaurant in Camp area on Monday night.
According to the customer, the incident occurred around 8:30 pm when a burger was bought from Burger King in Pune Camp. After consuming a few bites, the individual claimed to have discovered a cockroach inside the food item, describing the experience as both shocking and distressing.
The customer alleged that upon informing the outlet staff about the issue, only a refund was offered. However, the complainant stated that the matter goes beyond monetary compensation and raises larger concerns about hygiene standards and food handling practices.
The individual expressed worry over the potential health risks involved, questioning what might have happened had the contamination gone unnoticed and been fully consumed.
The incident has prompted calls for stricter food safety checks and regulatory oversight to ensure hygiene compliance at eateries. Food safety authorities are yet to comment on the matter.
