Pune Collector inspects NHAI’s flyover and road works at NDA chowk

Pune: National Highway Authority of India’s (NHAI) flyover and road works at NDA Chowk (Chandni Chowk) in Pune were inspected by Pune district Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh. During the inspection, Deshmukh directed officials to properly plan the final phase of the work being done at the junction. 

Accompanied by NHAI Project Director Sanjay Kadam, Deputy Manager Ankit Yadav, Regional Transport Officer Ajit Shinde, NHAI Consultant Engineer Bharat Todkari, and Project Manager of NCC Company for work at NDA Chowk Srinivas, the Collector also inspected the Mulshi to Mumbai, NDA to Mumbai, Bavdhan to Kothrud and Mulshi to Satara routes.

Deshmukh also discussed with the officials the measures being taken in accordance with the recommendations of ‘Save Life’, the work being done to reduce accidents at Navale Bridge, and the work on Palkhi Marg Dive Ghat.

Regarding the work at NDA Chowk, it was informed that 86% of the project has been completed and it is planned to complete all works by May 2023. The old bridge was demolished on October 2, under the guidance of Collector Dr. Deshmukh and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, to avoid traffic congestion.

In order to avoid permanent traffic jams, a meeting was held on November 1 in the presence of the District Collector, and since then, the work has been progressing quickly. Currently, rock excavation is ongoing on the NDA side for service road and other works, and the construction of pillars for the new bridge on the Bavdhan side has been completed. At the site of the old bridge, eight lanes are available for traffic, five from Mumbai to Satara or Kothrud and three from Satara to Mumbai. Two additional routes are also available from Satara to Mumbai via NDA.

The six-lane construction of the Bangalore-Mumbai highway has been completed, and Ramp No. 6 from Bavadhan to Satara is planned to be completed in the next 15 days. A 4-lane service road to Satara via Kothrud-Sringerimath-Warje and NDA to Mumbai Ramp No.5 has been completed and opened for traffic. The work of widening the subway from Mulshi to Kothrud will be completed in the next 15 days, with beautiful paintings on the walls on both sides of this path.

The work of Mulshi to Satara ramp is being completed, and traffic coming from Mulshi has been diverted. Mulshi-Mumbai ramp has also been completed and opened for traffic. The service road from Bavdhan to Pashan to Kothrud has been completed. The service road from Mumbai to Kothrud is 80% complete and rest will be completed in the next one month.
