Pune : Compound wall collapses in Bhawani Peth; damages multiple vehicles

Pune: A horrifying incident took place in the Bhawani Peth area when a huge compound wall of Al Shaan Co-operative Society collapsed and fell damaging many vehicles and hand carts on Tuesday.

Shedding more light on the matter, Pankaj Jagtap, Station Duty Officer, Fire Department, Pune Municipal Corporation stated, “Today, at around 4 pm, a huge 8 to 10 feet wall collapsed in Bhawani Peth. The reason for the collapse can be the roots of the trees growing on the wall for many years. The roots can weaken the wall from the inside. Additionally, the compound wall did not have any foundation. Thirdly, there is a water structure near the wall. As soon as we came to know about the incident,  we immediately rushed to the spot & assessed the situation. With the help of a big JCB, the debris is now being cleared.”

Jagtap informed that the wall collapse damaged a garage, 2 two-wheeler vehicles, one auto rickshaw, one tempo & two hand carts. A big tempo, in which Warkaris were present, has also suffered minimal damage. However, there was no casualty.
