Pune: A growing sense of unease envelops the trekking community in Pune as the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) resort at Sinhagad Fort remains inaccessible since its closure in 2021.

Aditya Paranjpe, an ardent trekker hailing from Sahakarnagar, expressed his concerns, stating, “The prolonged closure of the MTDC resort is causing significant inconvenience for visitors to Sinhagad Fort. The lack of accommodation and refreshment facilities is a major drawback. Reopening the resort would not only enhance convenience for all but also provide a source of employment.”

Speaking on condition of anonymity, another dedicated trekker and Sahakarnagar resident emphasized, “A promptly reopened resort would undoubtedly prove invaluable, offering much-needed accommodations and a resting place for those visiting the fort.”

Yet another anonymous Sahakarnagar resident, who frequents the Sinhagad Fort, highlighted the necessity of a fully operational resort. “A centralized lodging facility or a place to unwind is essential for visitors. The resort, currently closed, should be swiftly brought back into operation.”

Mausami Kose, the Regional Manager of MTDC Pune, shed light on the situation, stating, “The resort at Sinhagad Fort remains unstaffed at present. However, all other amenities and infrastructure are in place. MTDC has formulated plans to onboard personnel for the resort, with an expected reopening within the next month.”
