Pune: Confusion At Polling Booths In Baramati Constituency As Voters Return Home With Disappointment

In the Khadakwasla segment of Baramati’s Lok Sabha constituency, many voters faced unexpected problems when they tried to vote. Sachin Biramane was shocked to find his name missing from the voters’ list, while the names of his deceased parents still appeared. This wasn’t just his issue; it affected thousands across the area.

A regular voter said, “I’ve voted in previous elections without issues. Today, despite removing my parents’ names from the list after their death, I found their names still on it, but mine was gone.” Another voter from Undri, shared a similar story. He and his wife took time off from work to vote, only to find their names absent from the list.

Throughout the day, there was widespread confusion among voters in various polling stations across Sinhagad Road, Vadgaon Budruk, Dhayari, Narhe, Ambegaon, Undri and Katraj. Despite their eagerness to participate in the election, many citizens were left disappointed and unable to cast their votes due to overcrowding at the polling stations.

An election officer, preferring to remain anonymous, mentioned, “We’ve had over a hundred complaints just this morning from people whose names were missing from the list.” The missing names not only affected voters, who lost their chance to vote, but also the candidates who missed out on potential support.” 

A retired government official complained that his name was missing from the list. He complained, “I spoke to various officers from the police as well as the election department but none gave me a satisfying answer. Also, there was no resolution to the problem. I lost my opportunity to vote now. I shall soon file an FIR against the authorities.” 

A resident of Bavdhan complained that her name was missing from the list. Infact her husband’s name was their in the list, her name went missing despite the fact that she had voted in previous elections.
