Pune: Construction Worker Dies After Fall From Fourth Floor; Case Registered Against Contractor and Two Others By Kalepadal Police Station
Pune: A construction worker lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of an under-construction residential building in the Kalepadal area. Following the incident, the Kalepadal Police have registered a case against three individuals, including the contractor, for negligence.
The deceased has been identified as Raju Sopan Avchar (43), a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Uruli Devachi, Hadapsar-Saswad Road. The complaint was filed by his son Krishna Avchar (28) at the Kalepadal Police Station.
According to police officials, Raju Avchar was employed as a construction worker at a housing project behind JSPM College in Kalepadal. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 13, around 3 p.m., when Avchar lost his balance while working on the fourth floor and fell. He sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Investigations revealed that the contractor had failed to provide essential safety gear such as a helmet and harness, and adequate safety measures were not in place at the site. Based on this, police have filed a case against Swapnil Vikas Bankar (30, resident of Bhosalenagar, Hadapsar), Raghunath Baban Khopkar (resident of Fatimanagar, Wanwadi), and Santosh Baburao Rathod (30, resident of Shivnerinagar, Kondhwa Khurd).
The case is currently being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Vinayak Gurav.
