Pune Crime Branch Busts Illegal Gas Cylinder Refilling Racket, One Arrested And 135 Cylinders SeizedĀ
Pune: A man involved in illegally siphoning gas from domestic LPG cylinders and refilling commercial ones was arrested near Mahadev Temple in Loni Kalbhor, Pune. The operation was carried out by Pune Crime Branch Unit 6 on March 12, following a tip-off from an informant.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Madan Madhav Bamane (20), a resident of Mahadev Temple area, was caught red-handed while illegally transferring gas using pipes from domestic cylinders to smaller and commercial cylinders. A total of 135 cylinders of various brands, electric weighing machines, gas-filling pipes, and nozzles worth ā¹2.13 lakh were seized during the raid.
A case has been registered at Loni Kalbhor Police Station under sections 308(2), 309(4), 74, 79, 115(2), 352, 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The accused and the seized items have been handed over to the Loni Kalbhor police for further investigation.
This action was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-2) Rajendra Mulik, along with police officials from Unit 6 and Loni Kalbhor Police Station.
