Pune Customs Commissionerate Disposes 1033 Kgs Of Drugs Seized In 9 Cases

In line with the Government of India’s vision of “Drug Free India” and in the backdrop of upcoming United Nation’s ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’, i.e., on 26th June, Pune Customs Commissionerate has carried out disposal of 1033 Kgs of Drugs seized in 09 different cases, under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee and Commissioner of Customs, Pune, Yashodhan Wanage at the factory premises of M/s. Maharashtra Enviro Power Limited, MIDC, Ranjangaon, Pune.

     These seizures were affected by the dedicated Narcotics Cell of Pune Customs, Commissionerate having jurisdiction of districts of Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Total 19 traffickers were arrested in these operations who are presently in judicial custody.

Drugs seized in various anti-drug operations are routinely destroyed by the Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (DLEAs) after following the prescribed procedure.

 This exercise was taken up to deliver a strong message to the handlers who engage in drug trafficking.

To create awareness about Drug abuse in the society, various outreach programs are also being organized in Schools and Colleges of Pune which are also endorsed by popular celebrities and Sportspersons.
