Pune: Half of the Shailesh Bridge near Alankar Police Chowki leading to Karvenagar has been closed for the past one and a half months, causing inconvenience to commuters and leading to traffic jams on this busy road. Due to the 24 by 7 water supply scheme the road was dug by the Municipal Corporation’s water supply department. However, even after 15 days of laying the pipeline, the road resurfacing work is not carried out.

According to the President of the Sajag Nagrik Manch, Vivek Velankar, this closure has led to a significant increase in traffic congestion, which has resulted in accidents in the area. Both the local citizens and the forum have demanded urgent repairs to the road from the Municipal Corporation.

The forum has also demanded that a case be filed against the Municipal Corporation and the contractor responsible for the closure of the road, as they have failed to provide any information regarding the duration of the work or whether it has been completed on time.

The road was dug for the 24 by 7 water supply scheme work, which has now been completed. However, the road has not been resurfaced, causing inconvenience to people passing by. The forum has requested the water department to check the road, but they have not received any positive response.

In response, a road department officer stated that the responsibility of resurfacing the road lies with the water department, as they were given the work to dig the road. However, the road remains closed and no repairs have been made yet.

“I have visited the spot yesterday and due to many twists in the pipes and due to the incomplete welding work, the work of pipeline installation was delayed. But now the work is complete, so the road work will be conducted in 5 days, informed Nandkishor Jagtap, incharge of the 24 By 7 water supply scheme.
