Pune: Delivery Boy Returns with Mob, Brutally Assaults Security Guard in Dhanori Housing Society After Being Asked to Wait for Entry Approval
Pune, 19 May – A disturbing incident occurred at Gini Belvista Society, DN Parande Park in Dhanori, where a security guard was brutally attacked by a group of 7 to 8 men, allegedly led by a delivery boy from Zepto. The assault, which took place around 2:00 PM today, has left residents shaken and questioning the safety protocols of delivery platforms.
According to a resident of the society who shared the details, the delivery boy had initially visited the society earlier in the afternoon, around 1:00 PM, to deliver a parcel. At that time, heated conversation reportedly took place between him and the society’s security guard, Aryan Pathak, regarding entry procedures or parking norms. The security guard had simply asked him to “wait until approval” from the concerned resident, as per society rules.
The parcel was delivered without further incident, but to everyone’s shock, the delivery boy returned about an hour later this time accompanied by 7 to 8 individuals. He called the security guard outside and allegedly attacked him along with the group. The assault was severe enough that the guard had to be rushed to the near by hospital by society members, where he received stitches for his head injuries.
An police complaint has been registered at the Vishrantwadi Police Station, and authorities are investigating the matter.
Residents of Gini Belvista Society are now expressing serious concerns over the vetting processes followed by delivery service companies. “This incident has raised alarm bells about who is entering our community. If a delivery boy can return with a mob and attack our guard, what safety do residents have?”
This incident reflects a growing public concern over the safety protocols followed by delivery platforms across food, grocery, and e-commerce services. Citizens are urging companies to implement stricter background checks and establish stronger accountability measures for their delivery personnel. “It’s not just about convenience; it’s about safety. Companies must take full responsibility and ensure that individuals they employ do not pose any risk to the communities they serve.”
Residents are also calling for more robust security measures, including proper coordination between delivery platforms and gated societies, limiting access only to verified personnel, and even considering police verification for delivery staff. Until such steps are taken, incidents like this serve as a stark reminder of the growing vulnerabilities associated with unregulated entry into residential complexes.
