The directive was issued based on the recommendations of the screening committee, which took into consideration individuals out on bail, those involved in riots, and persons with political affiliations who might misuse their weapons during the election process. Additionally, weapons held by influential community members who may be actively involved in election campaigning or political meetings are also subject to collection.

The police department has been instructed to enforce the order immediately, ensuring that weapons are returned in the same condition after the election period. Non-compliance with these orders will lead to legal action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code.
