Pune District To Develop An Inclusive and Eco-Friendly Comprehensive Tourism PlanÂ

Pune, February 7, 2025: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed officials to create a comprehensive, eco-friendly tourism plan that includes historical forts, religious sites, cultural and sports tourism, rivers, wildlife, biodiversity, dams, agriculture, forestry, water tourism, adventure sports, birdwatching, and grassland safaris. He also emphasized the use of advanced tools and artificial intelligence in the planning process.
Dudi made these remarks during a meeting held at the District Collector’s office to discuss the development of the “Pune District Comprehensive Tourism Plan.” The meeting was attended by officials, including Deputy Conservator of Forests Mahadev Mohite, Regional Deputy Director of Tourism Shama Pawar, and representatives from the Public Works Department, Archaeology Department, and District Planning Office.
He highlighted the importance of showcasing the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s forts to attract domestic and international tourists. The initiative aims to boost revenue, generate employment for locals, and promote regional traditions, arts, music, and theater. Strict measures will be taken to ensure cleanliness and environmental sustainability at tourist sites.
To enhance accessibility, the plan will provide online information about tourist guides, roads, signage, restaurants, accommodations, transport options, pricing, and medical facilities. Experts from the tourism sector will also be consulted.
Additionally, a tourism festival is being considered for November or December, with plans to finalize a venue and invite international experts and organizations. The plan is expected to strengthen Pune’s tourism industry and establish its presence on the global stage. Dudi urged all departments to work in coordination for its successful implementation.
