Pune: Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha from Baramati constituency and a member of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has announced that the central government has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of an elevated highway between Narhe and Ravet.

As per information, the project is expected to cost approximately Rs 4,000 Crore.

Sule stated that the DPR was prepared following instructions from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, to address traffic congestion issues on this stretch. Sule held a meeting with officials from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday, during which the officials shared this information.

Additionally, the ministry has approved a fund of Rs 36 Crore for the construction of a flyover on the Mutha River in Warje, a service road, and the construction of an underpass between Kothrud and Mulshi. The elevated flyover between Narhe and Ravet aims to alleviate traffic congestion on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway.

As per the information received, vehicles travelling on this highway will no longer need to enter Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad, as they can directly cross the city using the elevated flyover. This is expected to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours, which has been a persistent problem for commuters. The NHAI had previously built a flyover at Chandni Chowk to address this issue, but traffic congestion remains a problem, and commuters are still stranded for hours on this stretch during peak hours.

Supriya Sule further tweeted, ‘A meeting was held with NHAI officials to discuss various issues related to the Pune-Satara roads in her Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. During the meeting, the issue of traffic congestion from Swaminarayan Temple to Navale Bridge to Warje and Chandni Chowk to Ravet was continuously pursued to resolve the issue.

In response, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitinji Gadkari has prepared a DPR of an estimated amount of Rs 4,000 crore for the construction of elevated highways. Work on the Kothrud to Mulshi underpass is also starting.’
