Pune, January 12 – A disturbing incident unfolded in the Magarpatta area of Pune, where an intoxicated youth physically assaulted an on-duty traffic police officer on the road. The shocking event, which occurred on Saturday evening around 6:30 PM, has sparked outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The accused, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, was creating a ruckus on the road. When the traffic police officer attempted to intervene, the youth became aggressive. He hurled abuses and physically attacked the officer.
Local residents acted swiftly to restrain the accused and prevent further escalation. Soon after, police officials from the Hadapsar Traffic Division arrived at the scene and detained the individual.
According to the police, the accused was apprehended and taken into custody. As of late Saturday night, the process of filing charges against him was underway. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Public Outrage: The incident has ignited a wave of criticism on social media. An X user named Shekhar shared the video of the assault, writing, “Where does such arrogance come from?” Many users expressed concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Pune.
Recurring Incidents This attack is not an isolated case. On January 4, a similar assault was reported when a 33-year-old man attacked Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Ankush Wadekar of the Alandi Traffic Branch. The assault occurred after the officer imposed a fine on the individual.
