Pune: An elderly woman from Pune was cheated out of ₹75,000 by cybercriminals who tricked her into installing a fake app. The incident was reported to the Kondhwa Police Station on Tuesday (09).

According to the police, this happened on June 3. A 52-year-old woman living in Mohammadwadi received a message that looked like it was from her bank. The message said she needed to reset her Union Bank mobile app PIN and included a link to click.

The woman clicked the link, which downloaded an unknown app on her phone. She entered her bank information into this app, not knowing it was fake. The cyber thieves used this information to steal ₹75,000 from her account.

As soon as she realized she was cheated, the woman went to the police station to report it. Police Inspector is now investigating the case.

This incident shows the importance of being careful with messages and apps that ask for personal information. Always check if they are real before giving out any details.
