Pune: EVMs Brought To Pimpri Under Tight Security For Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Elections
Pimpri, December 28, 2025: For the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation general elections, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and election-related materials to be used for polling scheduled on January 15, 2026, have been safely transported to Pimpri in accordance with the orders of the Maharashtra State Election Commission.
The EVMs were brought from the talukas of Gevrai, Patoda and Ashti in Beed district, and Radhanagari, Ajra, Kagal, Bhudargad, Gadhinglaj and Chandgad in Kolhapur district. The materials were transported to Pimpri in four separate convoys following pre-approved routes and plans.
The operation was carried out under the coordination of Nodal Officer Pramod Ombhase, along with Assistant Nodal Officers Sunil Pawar, Abhiman Bhosale, Santosh Kudale, Rahul Patil and Indrajit Jadhav. A tight security arrangement was maintained with the deployment of around 27 municipal employees, 12 video cameramen and 16 armed police personnel.
As per the directives of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, all EVMs have been stored securely in a well-equipped strong room. Office-bearers appointed by local political parties were informed in advance and invited for inspection as per the prescribed norms.
The sealed condition of all vehicles was verified in the presence of police officials and representatives before the seals were opened. Subsequently, the EVMs were safely unloaded in the presence of Strong Room Officers Sanjay Kashid, Satvashil Shitole and other staff members. At present, all EVMs are securely stored in sealed condition as per Election Commission guidelines, and the entire process has been carried out in a transparent and rule-bound manner.
