Pune : Ex BJP Corporator requests removal of shrine at Parvati Hill

June 7, 2023 Pune: After receiving a written application by a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator requesting the removal of a Mazar (shrine or enshrined tomb) at Parvati Hill, the forest department officials have stated that they will examine the details and take appropriate action.  

To address the matter, a meeting is scheduled in which officials from the forest department, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), police department and Devdeveshwar Sansthan will participate on June 7, Wednesday.

As per information, recently some individuals shared a photo of a Mazar situated near the Parvati temple. They alleged that the structure was not originally a part of the area, and claimed it to be an ‘encroachment’ which should be removed.

On Tuesday, Dheeraj Ghate, a former corporator, met with officials of PMC, forest department, and the police department to submit an application urging the removal of the shrine.Â
