In a significant development, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended two agents involved in a bribery scandal at the Talathi office in Wagholi, Pune. The accused were caught red-handed while soliciting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from individuals seeking to have their names included in the 7/12 land extract.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Bhausaheb Bhikaji Giri, aged 56 and residing in Avhalwadi, Wagholi, and Sanjay Maruti Lagad, aged 53 and residing in Lohegaon.

The case came to light after one of the victims lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Department, exposing the illegal activities of Giri and Lagad.

The complainant had recently purchased land in the Wagholi area, intending to add his wife’s name to the 7/12 land extract. Exploiting the situation, the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000, deceitfully claiming that Talathi Patange required a payment of Rs 45,000.

Taking swift action, the ACB devised a strategic plan to apprehend the culprits, setting up a trap that led to the arrest of Giri and Lagad. They are now in custody, and a case has been registered against them. Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhuri Bhosale is leading the ongoing investigation, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Additional Superintendent Dr. Sheetal Janve-Kharade.

This arrest highlights the commitment of the ACB to tackle corruption and ensure a transparent and accountable system for the public. Such actions serve as a stern warning to those involved in corrupt practices and emphasize the importance of maintaining integrity and ethical conduct in public offices.
