The Divisional Deputy Director’s office in Pune, Nagar, and Solapur districts has been accused of embezzling funds for individual approvals. The registers contained an external record of individual approvals granted between Sept 19 2020 and Oct 31 2022.

A complaint has been filed at Bund Garden police station regarding the disappearance of five outward registers from the Pune Divisional Deputy Director of Education’s office. The registers contained an external record of individual approvals granted between Sept 19 2020 and Oct 31 2022.

A case has also been registered against an unknown accused. A female officer filed the complaint on behalf of the office, stating that the official outward record of individual approvals maintained in the registers was missing. Five outward records of teacher-non-teacher individual approvals made at the Pune Division office of the Deputy Director of Education between September 19, 2020, and October 31, 2022, are missing, according to the complaint. The registers held the official external record of each permission granted by the three-person committee.

The Divisional Deputy Director’s office in Pune, Nagar, and Solapur districts has been accused of embezzling funds for individual approvals. Those documents will determine the fate of lakhs of teachers and non-teaching employees. The office approves proposals for group, individual, and unit recognition of schools in these districts. The Pune Divisional Deputy Director’s office also maintains documents related to grant distribution, salary, and non-salary grant distribution, which are crucial for personal recognition, salary fixation, promotion, and retirement.

Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare made a surprise visit to the Divisional Deputy Director’s office and criticized its functioning amid allegations of corruption during the personal recognition of teachers’ posts between 2020 and 2022.  Meanwhile, officials from the Bund Garden Police Station are conducting further investigation.
