Pune, November 21, 2024: A chilling incident of vandalism and intimidation unfolded behind St. Patrick’s School in Chimta Vasti, Bhekarbaba Nala, Wanawadi, Pune, early Thursday morning. Four unidentified men, armed with wooden sticks, iron rods, stones, and sickles, went on a destructive spree, damaging multiple vehicles parked along the public road.

The complaint, filed by Mayur Uttam Gaikwad (32), a resident of the area, states that the incident occurred at around 1:45 AM. Awoken by loud shouting, Gaikwad stepped outside to find the men smashing the windows and panels of vehicles, including a Tata Nexon, two rickshaws, a Ford car, a Getz car, a tempo, and an Activa scooter.

When Gaikwad attempted to intervene, he was met with verbal abuse and death threats. The commotion attracted the attention of local residents, including Nagnaath Gandhale, Ashok Kashikar, Yogesh Ghodke, and others. However, the armed vandals declared themselves as local gang leaders and threatened to kill anyone who obstructed them.

Before fleeing toward the canal, the men caused further damage to additional vehicles, including a rickshaw (MH 12 TU 4875) and an Activa scooter (MH 12 KL 6736).

The case has been registered at Wanawadi Police Station under several sections of the IPC, including 324(4), 351(3), 352, and 3(5), along with provisions from the Arms Act, Criminal Law Amendment, and Maharashtra Police Act.

The investigation, led by PSI Dilip Palwe and Constable Raut of Wanawadi Police Station, is ongoing as authorities work to identify and apprehend the culprits.
