Pune: Four Held For Assaulting And Robbing Man In Kondhwa After Luring Him Through Gay Dating App
Pune, January 22, 2026: Kondhwa Police have arrested four men for allegedly assaulting and robbing a 27-year-old Wagholi resident after luring him through a gay dating application.
Police identified the accused as Rahil Akil Sheikh (19) of Kondhwa, Shahid Shanur Momin (25) of Katraj, Rohan Naeem Sheikh (19) of Kondhwa Budruk and Ishan Nisar Sheikh (25) of Katraj. They were arrested on Tuesday based on CCTV footage, technical analysis and local inputs.
According to the complaint filed on Tuesday, the victim, who works with a private firm, connected with Rahil on a dating app and agreed to meet him near Sheetal Petrol Pump in Kondhwa Khurd around 9 pm on January 11. On reaching the spot, the victim found Rahil accompanied by three others. The group took him to an open ground near Bharti Vedant International School, where they allegedly assaulted and abused him before issuing threats.
The suspects took away his two gold rings, gold chain, silver ring, ₹800 cash, mobile phone and wallet. Under pressure, the victim also shared his ATM PIN, after which the accused withdrew ₹10,500.
Police confirmed the group’s involvement in two similar cases where victims were duped via dating apps. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
