A fresh leopard sighting was reported at Pune Airport early Tuesday morning, prompting forest officials and airport authorities to intensify monitoring measures in and around the premises.

According to officials, airport staff spotted the leopard at dawn, marking yet another sighting in the area. Previously, three camera traps had been set up to track the animal’s movement; however, none of them captured any evidence.

In response to the latest sighting, forest authorities installed five additional camera traps at locations where leopard activity is considered likely. With this, the total number of active camera traps deployed at the airport has increased to eight.

To enhance safety and monitoring, three trap cages have also been placed at key points. These measures aim to assist in both surveillance and, if required, the safe capture of the animal.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of officers from the Pune Forest Range, with support from RESQ wildlife experts and officials of the Indian Air Force.

The Deputy Conservator of Forests, Pune Forest Division, confirmed that monitoring will continue to ensure the safety of airport staff, passengers and wildlife.
