Pune, October 22, 2025: Kalepadal Police have filed additional charges in the Mohammadwadi accident case under IPC Sections 106, 281, 125(A), 125(B), 324(A) and Motor Vehicle Act Section 184, after confirming that the accused driver and his friends were intoxicated and had consumed alcohol throughout the night before the crash. The incident resulted in the death of Sunny Ambadas Misal after a speeding car driven by the accused collided with his two-wheeler in the early morning hours.

The main accused has been identified as Amaan Samir Maniyar (21), resident of Tata Inora Park, Handewadi, Pune. At the time of the accident, Maniyar’s three friends — Arezwa Nekzad Engineer (21), resident of Undri, Parth Rakesh Pandey (23), resident of Ravet, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, and Tarun Mahesh Nehlani (26), resident of Wadachi Wadi Road, Undri, Pune — were also present in the car. Mansing Patil, senior police inspector, Kalepadal police station stated that an innocent man lost his life because of rash and negligent driving. Stern action is being taken against all accused in the accident case.

Medical Report Confirms Intoxication
According to Assistant Police Inspector Ratnadeep Gaikwad of Kalepadal Police Station, the accused and his friends were taken to Sassoon Hospital for medical examination. Reports confirmed that Amaan Maniyar, Arezwa Engineer, and Tarun Nehlani were under the influence of alcohol, while Parth Pandey’s report tested negative. However, investigation revealed that he too had consumed alcohol in smaller quantities.

Diwali Night Party At Friend’s Residence
Further investigation established that the group had gathered at the residence of their friend Aamir Arifali Nihal (32), resident of Kad Nagar, Undri, Pune, for a Diwali party around midnight. The accused and his companions allegedly consumed excessive alcohol throughout the night, despite being fully aware that driving under the influence could result in serious injury or death.

Fatal Collision In Early Morning Hours
Despite this awareness, at around 5:30 a.m., Maniyar drove his Fiat Punto car at high speed, rashly and negligently, along Mohammadwadi Road near Raheja Vista Premiere society. The vehicle struck the two-wheeler of Sunny Ambadas Misal from behind, resulting in a fatal accident. Misal sustained critical injuries and died due to the impact.

Friends Encouraged Reckless Driving
The investigation further revealed that the friends present in the car — Engineer, Pandey, and Nehlani — were provoking Maniyar to drive faster, encouraging his reckless behavior despite knowing he was drunk. Their actions have been deemed as direct abetment in the crime.

Charges Against All Four Accused
Following the investigation, the three friends have now been named as co-accused in the case. Additional charges have been included under IPC Sections 105, 54, and 3(5) and Motor Vehicle Act Sections 185 and 119/177, pertaining to abetment and driving under the influence of alcohol.
