Pune, September 7, 2025 — The grand Ganesh Visarjan procession in Pune stretched into the second day, with several Ganesh mandals resuming their journey early morning after halting on Saturday night due to the midnight ban on DJ music. Despite the delay, this year’s immersion of the revered Manacha Ganpati concluded 1 hour and 24 minutes earlier compared to 2024.
Late on Saturday night, the idols of Shreemant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati, Akhil Mandai Ganpati, and Hutatma Babu Genu Ganpati were immersed. The historic Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati was immersed at 3:50 AM at Panchaleshwar ghat in Deccan, following an eco-friendly immersion ritual. Devotees bid farewell with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya.”
Last year, the immersion procession of Pune’s five Manacha Ganpati lasted 9 hours 33 minutes, starting at 10 AM and concluding at 7:33 AM the next day. In contrast, this year’s procession began at 9:30 AM and ended by 5:39 AM, lasting 8 hours and 9 minutes.
Comparison of Immersion Duration:
- 2025: 8 hours 9 minutes (started 9:30 AM, ended 5:39 AM)
- 2024: 9 hours 33 minutes (started 10 AM, ended 7:33 AM next day)
- 2024 Overall Procession: 28 hours 45 minutes (ended 3 PM next day)
- 2023: 30 hours 25 minutes
- 2022: 31 hours
Police are coordinating efforts to streamline the immersion, urging mandals to ensure timely completion. The festive spirit, however, continues to shine as Pune witnesses the traditional grandeur of Ganeshotsav Visarjan.
