Pune : Gang robbed motorcycle from 3 youths in Bopdev Ghat; Kondhwa Police appeals to remain cautious
The Kondhwa Police have caught 2 out of 3 people in Bopdev Ghat for threatening & robbing a motorcycle from 3 youths.
Santosh Sonawane, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police station said, “Police patrol has been increased in the Kondhwa area. The people sitting at the roadside while going towards Bopdev Ghat have been advised & appealed that no one should wander around the Bopdev Ghat area unnecessarily at night.”
As per information shared by Kondhwa Police, on the backdrop of an increasing number of crimes in Bopdev Ghat during night time, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 5 R Raja had given instructions to find & catch such criminals.
Pursuant to the said instructions, Senior Police Inspector Kondhwa Police Santosh Sonwane & Police Inspector (Crime) Sandeep Bhosale had ordered to lay a trap and take action at Bopdev Ghat.
Accordingly, an investigation team of Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Kumar Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Lekhaji Shinde, Police Officer Vishal Memane, Police Officer Nilesh Desai, Police Officer Satish Chavan, Police Officer Lavesh Shinde, Police Officer Shahid Shaikh, Police Officer Laxman Holkar, Police Officer Santosh Bansude, was investigating the cases of night-time robbery at Bopdev Ghat. They laid a trap in the Bopdev Ghat area and with the help of the police team, they stopped on the side of the road in civilian clothes and searched for suspicious criminals.
Meanwhile, three people on two two-wheelers were seen coming from Saswad towards Pune. One of the two-wheelers had no number plates on the front and rear sides. They were looking at the people walking on the ghat side and talking to each other, so their movements seemed suspicious. Hence, as the police approached them & tried to stop them, all 3 tried to run away. However, the police caught two people. They confiscated a two-wheeler vehicle along with a knife from the two. The third person, who was on another two-wheeler vehicle, took advantage of the darkness and fled.
When the police asked for the names and addresses of the two people they caught, they told their names as Nagesh Sanjay Chavan & Chetan Sitaram Khaire. When the caught accused were thoroughly investigated, it was found that the two-wheeler vehicle had no number plates & was stolen. The accused confessed that the two-wheeler vehicle was stolen from Bopdev Ghat a few days ago by threatening three youths with a knife.
