Pune: Gelatin Sticks and Wires Found in Vishrantwadi, Contractor Arrested
Pune, November 26, 2025: Panic spread through the Vishrantwadi–Tingrenagar area after suspected explosive material was found near Lane No. 8 in Vidyanagar, close to Saikrupa Lodge. A sanitation worker from the Vidyanagar Health Office noticed a sack lying unattended near the gate of an open plot. On checking, it appeared to contain items resembling explosives. The worker immediately alerted the Vishrantwadi Police.
The police team reached the spot promptly and cordoned off the area. A detailed inspection revealed that the sack contained 138 gelatin sticks and 135 detonator wires, collectively valued at ₹10,920. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was called in to secure and examine the material.
During the inquiry, it was discovered that the items were not meant for any illegal activity. They belonged to a construction contractor and were used for rock-breaking work. According to officials, the material had been carelessly left behind, causing unnecessary fear among residents.
A case has been registered against Rahul Sudam Waje and Kisan Dhanwate, both residents of Shirur, for negligently storing hazardous materials that could endanger public safety. The complaint was filed by Police Constable Yashwant Kirve. The investigation is being led by PSI Tara Chand Sudage, with further inquiries handled by PSI Vishal Mane, under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Mangesh Hande of Vishrantwadi Police Station.
Police have urged citizens not to panic but to immediately inform authorities if they spot any suspicious items in public spaces.
