Pune: Handewadi Residents Demand Urgent Road Repairs And Streetlight Restoration
Pune, April 27, 2026: Residents of Handewadi are facing daily difficulties due to poor road conditions and non-functional streetlights on the stretch from Saswad highway Road to Delhi Public School in Mohamadwadi.
According to locals, the road is in a pathetic state with multiple potholes and uneven surfaces, making travel risky for motorists and pedestrians. Commuters have reported frequent inconvenience, especially during peak hours and at night.
The situation becomes more serious during monsoon and also after dark as several streetlights along the stretch are not working. Residents say this has raised safety concerns, particularly for school students, senior citizens, and two-wheeler riders.
“We are facing this issue for a long time. Despite paying taxes, basic facilities like proper roads and streetlights are missing,” a resident said.
Locals have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation to take immediate action and repair the road while restoring the streetlights at the earliest.
Residents have demanded that the issue be treated as a priority, stating that they are only asking for basic infrastructure in return for the taxes they pay.
