Pimpri-Chinchwad, March 30, 2026: In a sudden weather shift, parts of the Hinjawadi IT hub witnessed a hailstorm along with unseasonal rain on Sunday, creating a rare and dramatic scene.
What is usually known as Pune’s bustling tech corridor briefly resembled a hill station, with hailstones covering roads and open spaces, prompting residents to liken the area to “Shimla.”
The India Meteorological Department had earlier predicted unseasonal rainfall across parts of Maharashtra, and the forecast proved accurate as hailstorms were reported not only in Hinjawadi but also in several other parts of Pune.
The unexpected weather brought temporary relief from rising temperatures, though it also disrupted normal movement in some areas.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as changing weather patterns continue across the region.
