Weather Alert: Strong Winds, Thunderstorms to Lash Maharashtra; 24 Hours Critical

Maharashtra, March 30, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major weather alert across Maharashtra, warning of unseasonal rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 50–60 km/h over the next 24 hours.

A total of 18 districts have been placed under a Yellow Alert, while 13 districts are under an Orange Alert, indicating the possibility of intense weather conditions and potential damage.

Konkan Region

Light rainfall is expected in Mumbai and Palghar. Meanwhile, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Thane have been issued a Yellow Alert. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds up to 60 km/h are likely.

Western Maharashtra

Districts including Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur are under an Orange Alert for March 31, with forecasts of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Kolhapur remains under a Yellow Alert. The IMD has also warned of possible hailstorms in isolated areas.

North Maharashtra

Nashik, Jalgaon, and Ahilyanagar are likely to witness thunderstorms with rain and possible hailstorms, prompting an Orange Alert. Nandurbar and Dhule are under a Yellow Alert.

Marathwada Region

Most districts in Marathwada are expected to be affected by unseasonal weather. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, and Hingoli are under an Orange Alert, while Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv have been issued a Yellow Alert. Lightning and strong winds could pose risks to crops and infrastructure.

Vidarbha Region

Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, and Washim are expected to experience hot weather conditions. However, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Wardha are under a Yellow Alert, with chances of thunderstorms and lightning.

With widespread thunderstorms and possible hailstorms expected on March 31, authorities have urged citizens and farmers to take necessary precautions. The risk of lightning strikes, crop damage, and disruptions due to strong winds remains high.
