On Friday, May 1, 2026, a 65-year-old man was arrested for the alleged sexual assault and murder of a four-year-old girl in Bhor taluka.
A four-year-old girl who was visiting her grandmother’s house for summer holidays. The accused reportedly lured the child to a cattle shed with the promise of food, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her and crushed her to death with a stone.
After the girl went missing on Friday afternoon, her family and local villagers began a search. Her body was eventually discovered hidden under a heap of cow dung in the cattle shed.
Police used CCTV footage from a private residence, which captured the accused leading the child toward the shed, to identify and arrest the suspect.
The incident sparked massive protests, with hundreds of villagers gathering at the police station. A blockade was staged on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, causing significant traffic delays.
The police addressed the protesters and assured them that a chargesheet would be filed.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Authorities are awaiting the final post-mortem report to confirm the exact cause of death.
