The police apprehended two suspects, Yogita Siddheshwar Bhise and Shivaji Sutar. During investigation, the police allegedly uncovered a tragic love triangle: Yogita was engaged in an extramarital affair with Shivaji Sutar. The night of the incident, Sutar visited Yogita, and upon discovering this, Siddheshwar confronted them.

A heated argument ensued, culminating in Siddheshwar’s murder. His body was then concealed in a gunny bag, transported to Sarola on the Pune-Satara Road, and dumped into the river around 1:30 AM.
