Why HSRPs are mandatory: Understand the benefits of high-security number plates

Pune Expands HSRP Services for Out-of-District Vehicles, Home Delivery Simplified
The government has made it a requirement for all vehicles to have High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) installed. This is a safety measure aimed at preventing vehicle theft and increasing overall security. If you’re caught driving a vehicle without an HSRP, you could be fined. The amount of the fine can differ from state to state.
What is HSRP?
High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are designed with extra security features. They include a special hologram made with chromium, which makes them very difficult to tamper with. Each plate also has a unique 10-digit PIN code, specifically assigned to that vehicle. HSRP plates are made of strong steel and use laser printing for the numbers, making them very difficult to copy. Once they’re on a vehicle, they’re practically impossible to remove without causing damage. This makes it much harder for criminals to tamper with or change the number plate.
HSRP plates offer a lot of benefits
They’re almost impossible to remove without breaking, making it much harder to steal a vehicle. The coding system makes vehicle information instantly available when scanned, and the registration number can’t be altered. The plates are designed to be clearly visible to high-resolution cameras, and the QR code makes it easy to access the owner’s information in seconds, which is really helpful in case of an accident.
What is the deadline for installing the HSRP number plates?
The government has started requiring all vehicles to have High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). The deadline for this is April 30th. Vehicles purchased after April 1st, 2019, already have these plates, but older vehicles need to get them installed. This is based on the Central Motor Vehicle Rules of 1989, which makes HSRP plates mandatory.
