Pune: Income Tax Department sets up 24x7 control room to curb misuse of money power during PMC elections

Pune, 24 December, 2025: The Income Tax Department is committed to curb the misuse of money power during the upcoming Elections in Maharashtra Municipal Corporations, 2025-26.
With a view to ensure free and fair elections and maintain purity of election, an election monitoring mechanism consisting of a 24X7 control room has been set up by the Income Tax Department, Pune for the following municipal corporations:
Thane, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan Dombivli, Bhiwandi Nizampur, Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai Virar, Panvel, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Solapur, Kolhapur, Ichalkaranji, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad.
This will be in operation till Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in force. This is to enable the conscientious public and the denizens of the state to provide information regarding cash and valuables utilized in electioneering purposes.
