In an effort to bring post office services into the digital age, India Post has
introduced a paperless KYC (e-KYC) process along with Aadhaar biometric
authentication for customers. This will make opening a Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) Single account and conducting secure, fast transactions in savings accounts easier and more convenient than ever before.

While sharing information about this initiative, Ramchandra
Jayabhaye, Postmaster General of Pune Region, said, “In the first phase,
customers will be able to open their Post Office Savings Bank Single Account
using Aadhaar and biometric authentication. Additionally, to deposit any amount
or withdraw up to ₹5000, customers will only need to provide their account
number and fingerprint. This process will help resolve issues like mismatched
signatures or payments being made to incorrect individuals or accounts numbers.”

Banking for customers will be more secure, convenient, and effective through
this digital initiative by India Post, The Aadhaar biometric authentication ensures
that the customer’s Post Office account is digitally equipped and fully secure.

Further speaking on the initiative, Shri Jayabhaye added, "Customers can
do the Aadhar Seeding and use this account for getting Direct Benefit Transfer
(DBT) benefits under schemes such as the LadkiBahinYojana, LekLadkiYojana,
PM KisanSammanYojana, MatruVandana Yojana, etc. Additionally, by linking
this Post Office Savings Bank account to their own India Post Payments Bank
account (POSA linkage), customers can also avail various doorstep banking
services such as withdrawing money, depositing money, and getting account
details, all from the comfort of their homes Jaybhaye also encouraged the public to contact their nearest post office for more information and guidance.
