Pune international airport to have a historical look

The Pune International Airport is all set to have a new terminal with a historical architecture at its entrance.

Considering the historical significance of the city, the Pune Airport administration has decided to make the entrance of the new airport terminal as a historic monument and construct a replica of famous ‘Shaniwarwada’.

The work for construction of beautified entrance will commence shortly. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s recent announcement about 13 acres of land has paved the way for expansion of the Pune Airport. So far 68 per cent of the expansion work has been done.

With the expansion, passengers will also benefit from state-of-the-art facilities including security. The project is worth Rs 120 crore rupees and will take two year period for construction

The current airport space 51,600 square meters, it will reach to 75, 200 square meters.

The current flow of the domestic passenger is around 600 passengers while the international passenger is 200 passengers. With the expansion, the domestic passenger capacity will increase upto 1700 while the international passengers will increase to 600 passengers.

The new terminal will have state of the art facilities re will be unique and add on features and baggage handling system, high quality waiting room, driver’s toilet and restroom, as well as facility of charging station for e-vehicles, special service for VIPs, car washing facility, emergency medical care, automated transportation system in the area, digital payment facility, conference rooms and offices, as well as the Digi Yatra facility which will save passengers time.
