There has been increasing chaos on the roads of Kalyani nagar and residents have been facing problems commuting in the area. The roads have been jammed due to the commercialization of the area and also due to several IT companies being situated there.

Speaking to PI Jayram Paigude, from Yerwada traffic division, he said that traffic jams happen during peak hours. Other road violations like three people on a bike and workers taking the wrong side of the road is adding to the chaos.

He said that the police department approached the Kalyani Nagar Residents Association (KNRA) and the association appointed 6 wardens from the companies situated there.

He said that the wardens’ contribution is appreciated and the helpers have been treated like special officers from their side. He also spoke about limited manpower resources within the traffic department to control traffic in all places across the city.

He said that volunteers coming forward to help will be greatly appreciated and each citizen can derive inspiration from the others to lend a helping hand to manage traffic.

“The Kalyani Nagar area has turned into a commercial hub. The ongoing metro work is adding to the chaos. The lanes of D Mart is jammed during the peak hours,” said  Rachna Agarwal, the chairperson of Swachh team, Kalyani Nagar.

According to her, it is the duty of the Police to provide extra manpower which they have not been responding well with. For the last 12 years, the team has been working with the police to manage traffic in the area. These are appointed by the team from companies like Extensia and Cybage. These are paid helpers, they are trained well for the given work and follow a proper dress code. They have been given necessary equipment to carry out the work. The insurance has also been covered for the helpers. She said the contribution of these wardens has been of great help.
