Pune: Kondhwa Police Arrest Four For Firing At Autorickshaw Driver, Probe OnĀ
Pune, March 12, 2026: The Kondhwa police arrested four young men late Tuesday night for allegedly opening fire at a 48-year-old autorickshaw driver following a road dispute in Kakade Vasti, Kondhwa, around 12:30 am on Sunday. Police are still searching for three other accomplices who have been identified.
The autorickshaw driver, a local resident, filed a complaint on Tuesday morning, leading to the registration of an attempt-to-murder case against all seven suspects.
Senior Inspector Kumar Ghadge of Kondhwa police said, āOur team arrested Kunal Vinayak Jadhav (19) of Kondhwa, Aditya Shankar Ghaware (21), Akshay Dnyaneshwar Awale (20), and Shivaji Pandurang Margale (21) of Sinhagad Road. We have recovered a country-made pistol and a motorcycle worth Rs 50,000 used in the crime.ā
According to police, the incident began late Saturday night when Jadhav was riding his motorcycle behind the autorickshaw. āThe autorickshaw driver made a sharp turn, causing Jadhav to lose control of his motorcycle. An argument broke out, during which Jadhav verbally abused the driver, who retaliated,ā Ghadge explained.
The dispute escalated after Jadhav called his friends. āBy the time they arrived, the driver had moved to a nearby open ground. The suspects abused him further, assaulted him with sharp weapons, and fired shots in his direction before fleeing the scene,ā Ghadge added.
Police recovered an empty cartridge at the scene and used CCTV footage to trace the suspectsā motorcycle. Jadhav was apprehended first, followed by the arrest of the other three accused. The search for the remaining three accomplices is ongoing.
