The Kondhwa Police have booked 3 accused, identified as Nadeem Badruddin Sayyed, Atika Nadeem Sayyed & Badruddin Sayyed, for allegedly attacking the complainant Saeeda Iqbal Shaikh, a 21-year-old law student. The complainant & the accused live in Sunshine Hills Society in Pisoli.

As per further information from the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, on 26th January 2024, at 12:30 pm, whilst the complainant Saeeda Shaikh & her sister were in the open space of their society (Sunshine Hills, Pisoli), co accused Nadeem Sayyed, who was standing in the balcony of their flat in A wing, told his wife & co-accused Atika Sayyed to bring some water & Nadeem threw it on Saeeda. After this, Saeeda called up her mother & told her to come down. After that, the accused Nadeem threw a knife at Saeeda’s direction, which pierced into Saeeda’s right-hand wrist. Immediately, after doing some dressing, Saeeda & her mother went to the Kondhwa Police Station & filed a complaint after which they went to Sassoon Hospital for further treatment.

Saeeda Shaikh’s mother has shared “This attack is believed to be an act of revenge against the victim’s mother, a well-respected advocate who had previously filed two FIRs against the accused. These cases, registered at Kondhwa Police Station with FIR numbers 828/2022 and 960/2022 under non-bailable sections, have yet to result in arrests, which may have emboldened the accused in their criminal activities. Saeeda received medical treatment at Sassoon Hospital, including eleven stitches to her right hand, indicating the assault’s severity. The incident raises significant concerns about public safety and law enforcement effectiveness, particularly considering the accused’s known criminal history and the lack of prior arrests despite existing FIRs. The Kondhwa Police Station has not made any arrests in connection with this latest attack. The lack of action thus far calls for immediate attention and action from higher authorities to ensure justice for the victim and safety for the community.”

The Kondhwa Police have booked the 3 accused Nadeem Badruddin Sayyed, Atika Nadeem Sayyed & Badruddin Sayyed under Sections 324, 504, 504, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
