Pune: Kondhwa Resident Rescued Within 4 Hours After Being Held Hostage For Ransom; Four ArrestedÂ

A man residing in Kondhwa was rescued just four hours after being held hostage by four individuals demanding ransom. The prompt response and vigilance of the Kondhwa Police led to the successful operation.
The complainant was lured to the residence of his childhood friend, Sonal alias Soni Atul Raikar, at NIBM Road, on the pretext of having tea on the evening of 21st May 2025. Once inside, she threw chili powder in his eyes, injuring him. Her husband Atul Raikar and his accomplices Robin alias Ravi Mandal and Suresh alias Sushant were waiting outside. The group then assaulted the complainant, gagged him, tied his hands and legs with rope, and confined him to a room.
They took his ATM card and mobile phone and threatened to harm him if he did not arrange money and valuables. They also used the victim’s phone to message his wife, instructing her to withdraw cash and jewelry from their home and hand it over to a person they were sending.
Upon receiving this information, Assistant Police Inspector Sukeshini Jadhav, who was on night patrol, informed Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar and Inspector (Crime) Rauf Shaikh. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they immediately began a search operation.
Under the leadership of API Mohsin Pathan, API Rakesh Jadhav, and others, the investigation team consisting of police constables Laxman Holkar and Suraj Shukla successfully traced and rescued the victim from Sunshree Suntech Society near RIMS College Chowk, NIBM Road, Kondhwa Khurd, Pune, within four hours.
The following individuals were arrested and booked under IPC sections 308(4), 352, 115(2), 126(2), 127(2), and 61(2): Sonal alias Soni Atul Raikar (35), resident of NIBM Road, Kondhwa Khurd, Atul Dinkar Raikar (38), Robin alias Ravi Mandal (24), resident of Lonkar Chawl, Kondhwa Khurd, Suresh alias Sushant Kumarsurwati Han (31).
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Ravindra Gawde under police custody.
This successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East), Pune City, Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wanwadi Division, Dnyaneshwar Godse, and executed by Sr. PI Vinay Patankar, PI (Crime) Rauf Shaikh, PI (Crime) Navnath Jagtap, API Mohsin Pathan, API Rakesh Jadhav, API Sukeshini Jadhav, PSI Ravindra Gawde, Constables Laxman Holkar and Suraj Shukla.
