In a tragic accident near Khadki railway station on Sunday, August 25, a Land Records Officer lost her life in a head-on collision between a car and an ST bus on the old Pune-Mumbai highway. The incident also left her husband, brother, and a motorcyclist seriously injured, while 12 bus passengers sustained minor injuries.

The deceased, identified as 40-year-old Manisha Vijaysingh Bhosale, was a resident of Kavathe Mahankal in Sangli district. The ST bus driver, Anant Punjabrao Uike, 33, from Narayangaon, has been detained by the police, and a case has been registered at Khadki Police Station.

Reports indicate that Bhosale, who had recently been transferred to Purandar Taluka, was visiting her brother in Chikhali, Pimpri-Chinchwad. On Sunday morning, Bhosale, along with her husband and brother, set off from Chikhali towards Hadapsar in their car. The ST bus involved was en route from Shivajinagar Station to Narayangaon.

As the vehicles approached Khadki railway station, the ST bus, reportedly speeding, collided head-on with the car, causing the bus driver to lose control and strike another car and a motorcyclist, injuring the rider.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the trapped individuals and transporting them to Sassoon Hospital, where Bhosale was declared dead on arrival. The injured are currently receiving treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit. The 12 bus passengers who suffered minor injuries were also treated.

This incident has raised concerns about road safety, with ongoing investigations to determine the precise cause of the collision.
