Pune: Leopard Returns To Wagholi, Spreading Fear Among Residents
A leopard sighted four days ago in the Bhadalevasti area of Wagholi reappeared early this morning, causing further alarm among residents. The animal attacked a sheep in the same area, and Decathlon employees managed to capture footage of it on their mobile phones. With two recent sightings, fear has spread throughout the community.
The leopard was seen roaming around the Decathlon premises in the early morning and attacked a sheep in the area. Security guards from Decathlon captured the leopard’s movements on their mobile cameras. The presence of a leopard in such a densely populated urban area like Wagholi has left residents frightened. The leopard was seen fleeing towards nearby farmland, leaving multiple paw prints in its wake.
After receiving information about the leopard, Forest Department officials arrived on the scene, discovering tracks across various areas. Concerned residents are now requesting the installation of a cage trap to capture the animal.
Monitoring Movements with Cameras
According to Dnyaneshwar Shivale from the Pune Forest Department, “We have found paw prints, and the leopard was also captured on camera. The Forest Department will install more cameras to monitor the animal’s movements. Once permission is granted, a cage trap will be set up. Meanwhile, residents are advised to stay cautious.”
